Most of the accommodation in Zambia’s great Luangwa National Park consists of smaller, boutique camps. Mfuwe Lodge is the exception. It is a true lodge composed of 18 individual chalets scattered around two area lagoons. It’s relatively near the entrance for the national park and the first closest lodging available to Mfuwe, the airstrip used by flights into the park.

The lodge has a swimming pool, boutique and spa. Meals are both buffet and a la carte. The individual rooms are spacious if plain, with private “panoramic” walk-in showers. Each room has a small verandah that overlooks waterways often occupied by hippos and crocs.

The area has abundant and varied game and is generally the starting point for longer safaris into the park’s interior.
