When Zimbabwe imploded, African travelers lost one of the great opportunities that had existed since 1907, staying at the famous Victoria Falls Hotel. The prestigious South African chain, Sun International, didn’t miss a beat. They rebuilt the hotel on the Zambian side of the river, and named it the Royal Livingstone.
This modern version of the vintage hotel recreates much of the original glamor, from the deep wood bars to the cozy rooms lavishly appointed with grand furniture. The large open-air public areas break with the more somber tradition of its model, and allowed Sun to open a much larger hotel, now with 175 rooms and growing.
An Olympic-sized pool, fitness center, and location along the Zambezi are complemented with wifi available throughout most of the complex. Paths lead from the hotel directly down to Victoria Falls.
