This was the Mara’s first lodge, rebuilt many times since it opened in the 1960s. It remains the reserve’s largest lodge, with 100 rooms and suites, located in the southeast part of the park not far from the Tanzanian border. (Visitors are not allowed to cross into Tanzania.) The most recent refurbishment in 2007 resulted in very modern rooms with full facilities, beautiful public areas, a very large swimming pool, multiple bars and restaurants. The area in which the lodge is located is one of the prime game viewing areas of the Mara.
