Day 1: MT. KILIMANJARO
On arrival at Kilimanjaro airport, you'll be privately met by an English-speaking, driver/guide in a private specially-designed Landrover and taken on a two-hour drive north into a private 50,000-acre reserve on the western slopes of Mt. Kilimanjaro. (If your flight arrives at night, you will arrive one day early and spend the night at the adjacent KIA Lodge.) The drive is through lovely Tanzanian rural farmland past several colorful villages. Arrive Shu'mata Camp for lunch. The camp is the only property allowed on the huge private reserve with its exquisite views of Mt. Kilimanjaro and expansive game-filled areas. Activities begin right after lunch. The reserve is just opposite Kenya's Amboseli National Park and shares much of its game. There are large herds of impala and good numbers of zebra, other antelope, and a greater density of unusual game like gerenuk than is usually found in the national parks. After your first day of game viewing return to the camp fire for hors d'oeuvres before an exceptional gourmet bush dinner.  [ -l-d]
Day 2: MT. KILIMANJARO
The day's activities are planned around your interests. In addition to the vehicle game drives, you may be able to stalk elephant on foot, as well as visit a local Maasai village. There are beautiful areas with small hills fitting for spectacular sundowners and picnics. You can elect to go out all day searching for game, or return to camp for periods of relaxation in this specially exclusive setting, where an outstanding staff is prepared to cater for your every need. Meals and overnight at Shu'mata Camp.  [b-l-d]
Day 3: MT. MERU
After breakfast you'll leave the slopes of Mt. Kilimanjaro and drive through remote Tanzanian countryside to Mt. Meru, Africa's 5th highest mountain. Continue into Arusha National Park, the big game wilderness which surrounds the mountain, for lunch at Hatari Lodge. In the afternoon you take your first game drive in the park. Lianas and other draping foliage cover the thick forests, interspersed by beautiful high grass meadows and a myriad of attractive streams and water holes. There are spectacular displays of wild flowers and flowering trees. While there are other areas of beauty that may rival Arusha, none also has its abundant game. Huge buffalo families, large numbers of elephant, and gorgeous antelope like bushbuck and duiker are regularly seen. Return to this boutique safari lodge named after the 1959 movie that was filmed here, for dinner and overnight.  [b-l-d]
Day 4: TARANGIRE
After breakfast you leave Hatari and head onto the great northern circuit. You'll pass through Arusha town with numerous opportunities for shopping, changing money or checking email. Enjoy a picnic lunch on the way. You'll enter Tarangire National Park in the afternoon and game view through this marvelous wilderness to your luxury boutique camp, Swala Camp for dinner and overnight.  [b-l-d]
Day 5: TARANGIRE
Full day of exploring this wonderful national park which in many ways is more like a southern than East African wilderness. Heavily wooded, this park has some animals not found elsewhere, like the roan and sable antelopes. But the park's principal attraction is its elephants, wilder and larger than those found elsewhere in East Africa. Your game viewing schedule is worked out with your driver/guide who will have the most current information about animal whereabouts. Meals and overnight at Swala Camp.  [b-l-d]
Day 6: NGORONGORO
After breakfast you begin your day's journey into Africa's Garden of Eden, Ngorongoro Crater. Game view out of the park this morning and continue into the Great Rift Valley, one of the most spectacular drives in Africa. You'll stop just below the mighty escarpment for a short mid-day game drive in Lake Manyara National Park with a picnic lunch. This UNESCO biosphere is famous for its lions-in-the-tree. Later in the afternoon you continue through the magical rain forest of the crater rim to Tanzania's most famous and arguably its most luxurious lodge, Crater Lodge for dinner and overnight.  [b-l-d]
Day 7: NGORONGORO
Dawn game drive in Ngorongoro Crater National Park. This awesome geological wonder is home to as many as 20,000 animals in a relatively small 100 sq. miles. It is a wildlife paradise without equal, and the photographic opportunities of the world's largest caldera are unbelievable. You'll descend with a picnic breakfast and have 6-8 hours to enjoy this Africa "Garden of Eden". Return to the lodge for a late lunch, and in the afternoon you can relax in the beautiful surroundings of Crater Lodge or take a hike with Maasai in the nearby Endulen Hills. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.  [b-l-d]
Day 8: SERENGETI
This morning you continue around the magnificent alter-crater of Ngorongoro as you begin your Serengeti adventure. The first stop is Olduvai Gorge where so many precious finds of early man were found. Afterwards you head overland with a picnic lunch. Depending upon the season, you will visit the Gol Kopjes and Lemuta, or proceed directly over Naabi Hill into the park. Game viewing begins immediately and literally won't end until you begin your journey home in three days. This evening you'll have reached the very southern most part of the Serengeti, the beautiful southwest lakes region for dinner and overnight at much-loved Ndutu Lodge.  [b-l-d]
Day 9: SERENGETI
Your final two days in Serengeti National Park is designed to maximize your opportunities in this huge and highly seasonal park, where game viewing changes radically by season. Your route depends upon the whereabouts of the great herds of animals and the possibility of finding the Great Migration. Of course, nothing can be guaranteed in the wild. And besides the migration -- at any time of the year -- the Serengeti is usually the place for the most dramatic game viewing.

There are nearly twenty luxury permanent camps in the Serengeti situated all over this enormous 5,000 sq. miles. Where we place you will depend upon the movement of the migration, in order to optimize your chances of seeing the greatest spectacle on earth. Once we know the dates you wish to travel, we'll advise the camp that we will recommend. Meals and overnight in your Luxury Camp.  [b-l-d]

Day 10: SERENGETI
As your final climatic day of game viewing begins, you may decide to visit the sacred Moru Kopjes of the Maasai, walk on their fabled Meeting Rock and see ancient cave paintings. You might want to climb to the top of Naabi Hill and view all the Serengeti for hundreds of miles, or visit the very impressive Seronera Welcome Center. Many of our safaris find themselves among the great herds on endless plains with rarely another vehicle in view. Depending upon your location, you might even be able to hire a ranger for a safari walk. Whatever you do, whenever you go, it's certain that your Serengeti experience will be the highlight of your safari, perfectly designed by season to make sure that no matter when you come, you won't miss a thing! Meals and overnight at your Luxury Camp.  [b-l-d]
Day 11: DEPARTURE
After breakfast you'll drive to the nearest airstrip for the late morning flights that take you back to Kilimanjaro Airport, via Arusha. You''ll be met by representatives from KIA Lodge who will shuttle you from the terminal to this attractive airport hotel. Later this evening they will shuttle you back to the airport for the overnight departures home.  [b- - ]
