Daily Departures, except from April 16th thru May 16th due to camp closures
This short safari of Tanzania's most important northern circuit parks is distinguished by its accommodations, the finest camps and lodges Tanzania has to offer. It allows you to enjoy the greatest wildlife spectacle on earth with the comfort of a stylish European holiday. Unique to this safari, where we send you depends upon what time of the year you travel. While nothing in the wild can ever be guaranteed, of course, certain seasonal movements of animals follow fairly certain historical patterns. Once we know your dates, we can advise which camp we will recommend in the Serengeti.
Contact EWT for the best international air fares and for recommendations on how to use your frequent flyer miles. Day 1: LAKE MANYARA
Your safari program begins with an afternoon flight into Lake Manyara National Park. Following your morning arrival in Kilimanjaro Airport, you'll be met by representatives from the adjacent KIA Lodge and taken to the attractive hotel to freshen up. Your private room is available until the lodge shuttles you back to the airport for the afternoon flight to Manyara. If you arrive in the evening, you must arrive the evening before and special arrangements will be made for you to overnight at KIA Lodge.
On arrival at Lake Manyara you'll be personally met and privately transferred to the elegant Manyara Tree Lodge in the west of the park. The 2-3 hour game drive from the airstrip immediately immerses you in wild Africa! Expect great animals on this transfer to your overnight accomodations. Dinner and overnight at the lodge. [ - -d] Day 2: LAKE MANYARA
Game viewing is controlled by you. Your driver/guide will have the most current information about animal locations and recommendations for the day, but ultimately you decide for how long and where to go. You can go out all day with picnics or return to the lodge for meals. Lake Manyara National Park is an UNESCO biosphere and one of the most scenic on the circuit. There are thick, magical forests, savanna grasslands, and of course the great lake shore itself. You'll see a huge variety of animals from giraffe, zebra, wildebeest, warthog and much more. The park is famous for its lions-in-the-tree, and it was here that the opening scene for Out of Africa was made. Meals and overnight at Manyara Tree Lodge for dinner and overnight. [b-l-d]
Day 3: NGORONGORO
Morning game viewing in Lake Manyara National Park. After an early lunch, you'll be met by a private English-speaking driver/guide and specially outfitted Landrover that will now collect you and remain with you for the duration of your safari. You'll game view out of the park onto the dramatic Great Rift Valley. You'll then continue on the spectacular drive through the Ngorongoro rain forest onto the crater rim, arriving the fabulous Crater Lodge for dinner and overnight. [b-l-d]
Day 4: NGORONGORO
Dawn game drive in Ngorongoro Crater National Park. This awesome geological wonder is home to as many as 20,000 animals in a relatively small 100 sq. miles. It is a wildlife paradise without equal, and the photographic opportunities of the world's largest caldera are unbelievable. You'll descend with a picnic breakfast and have 6-8 hours to enjoy this Africa "Garden of Eden". Return to the lodge for a late lunch, and in the afternoon you can relax in the beautiful surroundings of Crater Lodge or take a hike with Maasai in the nearby Endulen Hills. Dinner and overnight at the lodge. [b-l-d]
Day 5: SERENGETI
This morning you continue around the magnificent alter-crater of Ngorongoro as you begin your Serengeti adventure. The first stop is Olduvai Gorge where so many precious finds of early man were found. Afterwards you head overland with a picnic lunch. Depending upon the season, you will visit the Gol Kopjes and Lemuta, or proceed directly over Naabi Hill into the park. Game viewing begins immediately and literally won't end until you begin your journey home in three days. This evening you'll have reached the very southern most part of the Serengeti National Park, the beautiful southwest lakes region for dinner and overnight at much-loved Ndutu Lodge. [b-l-d]
Day 6: SERENGETI
Your final two days in the Serengeti is designed to maximize your opportunities in this huge and highly seasonal park, where game viewing changes radically by season. Your route depends upon the whereabouts of the great herds of animals and the possibility of finding the Great Migration. Of course, nothing can be guaranteed in the wild. And besides the migration -- at any time of the year -- the Serengeti is usually the place for the most dramatic game viewing.
There are nearly twenty luxury permanent camps in the Serengeti situated all over this enormous 5,000 sq. miles. Where we place you will depend upon the movement of the migration, in order to optimize your chances of seeing the greatest spectacle on earth. Once we know the dates you wish to travel, we'll advise the camp that we will recommend. Meals and overnight in your Luxury Camp. [b-l-d] Day 7: SERENGETI
As your final climatic day of game viewing begins, you may decide to visit the sacred Moru Kopjes of the Maasai, walk on their fabled Meeting Rock and see ancient cave paintings. You might want to climb to the top of Naabi Hill and view all the Serengeti for hundreds of miles, or visit the very impressive Seronera Welcome Center. Many of our safaris find themselves among the great herds on endless plains with rarely another vehicle in view. Depending upon your location, you might even be able to hire a ranger for a safari walk. Whatever you do, whenever you go, it's certain that your Serengeti experience will be the highlight of your safari, perfectly designed by season to make sure that no matter when you come, you won't miss a thing! Meals and overnight at your Luxury Camp. [b-l-d]
Day 8: DEPARTURE
After breakfast you'll drive to the nearest airstrip for the late morning flights that take you back to Arusha. There you'll be met by a separate vehicle that you will take you shopping and for lunch at a popular local restaurant. You'll then be taken to Kilimanjaro Airport, where you'll have a private room at the KIA Lodge located adjacent the airport. Later this evening the lodge will shuttle you back to the airport for the overnight departures home. [b-l- ]
